TAWAU: The Tawau Municipal Council will organise a seminar this July 27 on the proposed development of “Tawau Smart City”
“We are in the process of transforming Tawau as a preferred investor destination with 250 acres of land at the old airport earmarked for the development of Tawau Smart City.
“To begin with, we will organise a seminar where three working papers will be presented, to woo investors by inviting participants from various levels of organizations,” Tawau Municipal Council president Datuk Amrullah Kamal said.
Amrullah disclosed this in a media conference at the Tawau Municipal Council meeting room on Thursday.
On another development, Tawau Municipal Council will offer 100 percent discount on interest for all assessment rate in conjunction with the official launching of Sabindo Sunday Tamu on July 28.
“The discount offer is part of the efforts to attract ratepayers to fulfill their responsibilities and the effectiveness on the implementation of “Ops Ketam”,” Amrullah said.
Sabah Deputy Chief Minister cum Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Jaujan Sambakong will officially launch the Sabindo Sunday Tamu and “Ops Payung” on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Amrullah said Tawau has the potential to become a destination for Medical Tourism when an India-based specialist hospital set up its branch in the district.
“The hospital has signed agreement with the premises owner and is expected to commence operations before the end of this year,” Amrullah said. –( NEW SABAH TIMES)
